No Sailor

No Sailor is American singer-songwriter Kieran Garvey and his five-piece folk band. Their fun and classical approach to folk has been described as "heartwarming and authentic” and "destined for the stages of Newport Folk Festival.” Their captivating live show has earned them comparisons to The Head And The Heart, and The Lumineers. Garvey’s earnest songwriting, paired with a semi-classical band, has a profound way of playing on your heart strings. From the exuberance of ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors,’ to the melancholic strings on ‘Wedding Cake,’ their songs arc from euphoric folk rock to confessional orchestral ballads.

Known for their energetic, raw, and intimate live show, these folk rockers are taking over stages big and small. From festival stages to their early shows in small European cafes, No Sailor has a history of casting a net around their audience. Drawing on folk and rock roots, their sound is both fresh yet familiar, and has earned them comparisons to The Head And The Heart, Mumford and Sons, and The Lumineers.

Their highly anticipated debut album, Anchor Broken Free, features 10 songs inspired by Garvey’s time spent abroad and the collapse of the relationship that brought him there. The songs follow an arch from despair to hope as he searches to find a life for himself in the throes of heartache. Songs like “Rock, Paper, Scissors” and “21 Rules” capture his playful and upbeat side, while songs like “Wedding Cake” and the title track “Anchor Broken Free” showcase his introspective side.

No stranger to travel, like the songwriter himself, the songs were recorded in three countries: Slovenia, Scotland, and America. After recording the original stems in Slovenia he brought the tracks to acclaimed Glaswegian producer Paul Savage (Franz Ferdinand, Camera Obscura), where they worked together on production, additional recording, and mixing. The songs were mastered in Los Angeles by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys), and will be self-released later this year.
